L2 self-regulation and language performance :a relational study.a relational study
Resumen
The investigation examines the possible correlation between L2 Self-regulation levels and language performance in a third grade of a subsidized school in Santiago. For the study, two instruments are employed: a widely validated L2 Self-regulation survey ‘Self-regulation capacity in vocabulary learning scale’ and TOEIC mock tests administered as part of the Chilean standardized SIMCE English language test take to students who are in third grade. The results indicate a moderate correlation between both variables, which may suggest that teachers should become aware of the importance of developing L2 self-regulation for the learning of English. This study suggests that teachers of the Liceo Polivalente María Reina use this investigation and focus on the levels of self-regulation of their students in the third grade, because a high level of Self- regulation will help their students to get better results on their performances and will increase better learning techniques in all their courses.
